Always keep your burning candle in sight. Keep burning candles out of reach of household pets and children at all times. Do not fall asleep with a candle still lit. If in doubt, snuff it out.
Candle containers can become hot in use. Always burn candles on a level surface which is heat protective. Burn candles at least 10cm away from other candles and keep them well away from anything that might catch fire. Always snuff out the candle and let the container cool completely before moving or relighting your candle. Do not burn your candles for longer than 4 hours at a time. We find a 2-3 hour burn is about right. Then let your candle cool completely before touching the container, moving it or relighting the candle.
Trim the candle wick to about 5mm before lighting. Ensure any wick trimmings and debris are removed from the surface of the wax before lighting. Using our candle lids will help keep the wax free from dust in between use. Use a candle snuffer or wick dipper to extinguish your candle flame.
Burn your candle on a steady level surface away from draughts and vibration, which may disrupt the flame, alter the burn rate or cause your candle to tip or fall over. Also check your surroundings, is there anything around your candle that may catch fire, be damaged by heat or accidentally knock your candle over?
In addition to the candle safety labels and supplementary leaflets, you will find a candle CLP label attached to the candle container and any immediate outer packaging. This is also displayed on the website page linked to the candle to view prior to purchase. This lists any relevant allergens and safety precautions associated with the essential oil blends used in your candle. Essential oil blends may not be safe or suitable for everyone. Always check the CLP label for relevant allergies or sensitivities. Take extra care in pregnancy and if you have household pets or children in the household. Feel free to contact us for more information if you are unsure.
We test our candles regularly with safety as a priority and so we really get to understand them. Never continue to burn a candle if you have any safety concerns. We continually work to improve our candles, so your feedback is important whether positive or negative. Feel free to speak up about candle safety.
